Family Discipleship
Misplaced Families, Lost Priorities and Lost Youth
Parents often neglect personal discipleship and consistent family church attendance due to cultural busyness, misplaced priorities, and a crisis of delegation.
- Busyness and Fatigue: Modern families are overwhelmed by work, sports, and activities, leaving little margin for spiritual disciplines. Parents often skip church due to exhaustion, treating it as an optional activity rather than a spiritual priority.
- Delegation Mindset: Many parents adopt a "tutor model," hiring youth pastors or churches to train their children while they focus on secular success, failing to recognize that parents hold the primary biblical responsibility for passing faith to the next generation.
- Misplaced Priorities: Families often elevate hobbies, entertainment, and social status above worship, sending a message to children that Jesus is not worth worshiping on Sundays.
- Lack of Training: Research indicates that only 1 in 5 clergy prioritize training parents, leaving the most effective form of evangelism neglected. Without guidance, parents may rely on legalism or moralism, which can drive teens away from Christ rather than drawing them closer.
- Cultural Pressure: Secular influences and peer pressure create a hostile environment for faith, making parents feel inadequate or isolated in their efforts to raise godly children.
- What causes these problems in this age of "NO SPIRITUAL OR BIBLICAL PRIORITIES?"
- What in the Devil causes people to abandon the things of God?
- Oh wait, it is exactly the Devil, in many cases that has blinded the minds of those who have abandoned God for money, power and pleasure?
"But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord." — Joshua 24:15
